About

Writers who have not had a commercial publishing deal are eligible to enter the New Talent Award which is judged this year by Emily Yau from Ebury, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

The New Talent Award is for an opening chapter to a novel and is intended to shine a spotlight on the authors of tomorrow.

Writers who have self-published can enter so long as they have not accepted a commercial publishing deal for a novel. Entries can be of any style and subject matter but must fall into the wide genre of romantic fiction i.e. be part of a story with romantic elements.

To enter please email your opening chapter, of nor more than 2,500 words as a Word or rtf file to festivalofromance AT gmail DOT com with the words New Talent Award 2015 in the subject line. Please include your full name, address and telephone number in the email but do not include your name or pen-name on the entry.

A small entry fee is payable which goes to fund the trophy and presentations to the winner and shortlisted writers. The entry fee should be paid here.

The closing date for entries for the 2015 Award is midnight BST on Thursday 1st October 2015.
